We have an ancient faith - but we also strive to have a relevance within a modern & changing world seeking a spiritual life in Christ. Please learn a little more about our mission and Ecumenical Catholicism which is growing in numbers and strength throughout the world.
When the Roman empire changed Christianity after 314ad much of what was meant by the word Catholic was changed also. We, as well as other branches of the catholic or universal Church hold to the universal beliefs in Jesus and his teachings.

The Ecumenical Catholic Church International's position is simple. We hold to the integrity of the Faith Catholic, independent of Rome, whilst at the one and same time respecting the authenticity and validity of other Faith Traditions. As we remain to the best of our ability faithful to the Universal (Catholic) teaching of the original Apostolic Church we also recognize that our fellow sisters and brothers of other traditions such as the Anglican and Reformed, remain true to their understanding of Word and Sacrament. We make no judgement on others who may differ from us in the ministry of Holy Orders and or the polity that gives structure to our various ecclesiastical communities. We accept the Seven Sacraments and the Apostles and Nicene Creed.

We hold to the ancient Universal (Catholic) teaching of the Communion of the Saints which we see as one of the essentials of our understanding of what it is to be 'Catholic' and we respect the historical centres of the Church. But we do not believe any one of these centres, or persons occupying such, have any authority either by Scripture or Apostolic directive that is reserved solely to them. We cherish both the Fathers and Mothers of the Church and, like them, we do not embrace any teaching that is contrary to the Life and teachings of Jesus, or to any other notion of secret knowledge or Gnosticism. We believe that the Whole People of God govern the Church as the Holy Spirit gives direction and teaching. In a nut shell we believe in all things, Love!
Although some of us are not Franciscans, most of us have discovered the simple Franciscan life style and mind set serves us well in this modern age where consumerism is rampant. We in the ECC:I wish a more God-centered living and being. We find that the world is in jeopardy following the way of the worship of wealth and power, and we wish to live a joyous answer as found in Jesus' teachings and the simple life found in the example of St. Francis.
